Recently, we ordered business cards for a few new team members and it occurred to me that over sixty people have Swim Creative listed on their resumes. Sixty people who have been a part of our outstanding history.
Since day one, all I ever wanted was to surround myself with passionate, funny people who live life fully and care about doing work that stands out from everything else. Never would I have imagined how many wonderfully talented people would walk through Swim’s doors over the years. I am so grateful to each and every one of them.
Our doors may have changed a few times, but the philosophy of doing business the “Swim Creative Way” has never wavered. Our ability to reach deep into the mind of the consumer, sprinkle in our own life experiences and tell those honest, sometimes hilarious, sometimes sad stories, is what sets us apart. The result? Brands and marketing campaigns that are inspirational, full of depth and resonate with the consumer.
In fact, the quality of Swim’s work is so good that we have become a go-to for headhunters. The marketing departments of Duluth Trading Company, Polaris, Cirrus, Honeywell, Target, Graco, Bureau Veritas Group, IBM, BNSF and others have acquired some of our best. And like almost all businesses in 2021, even Swim Creative was affected by the Great Resignation. Despite excellent salaries, comprehensive benefits and a healthy work/life balance, sometimes people just have good reasons to move on.
But it got me thinking. Today’s younger workforce is likely to job hop every 2-3 years. However, at Swim, people tend to stay for many years. Many people on our staff have been here practically from the beginning. Why is that?
I’ve been told that working for Swim Creative is a badge of honor and it’s difficult to get in and always hard to leave. When you work at Swim, you are individually honored and celebrated for your talents, yet an integral part of a highly functional team that together, produces outstanding work which emotionally connects to the consumer on many levels. And at the end of the day, you feel proud to say, “Wow, I worked on that.”
So here we are, sixteen years in. We have a few new friendly faces and these teammates have grabbed the torch and are digging in with the same energy and delight that defines Swim’s rich and successful history.
Cheers and a joyful happy spring to you all!
