The Client
The Whitefish Area Lodging Association is a collection of family-run businesses that weave throughout 14 interconnected lakes located in central Minnesota.
The Goal
The association was created as a way for these businesses to pool their resources to keep up with the corporate-run resorts found just to their south. In 2020, the resorts had one of their most successful years in history. WALA wanted to build on that momentum by increasing brand awareness.
The Work
They reached out to Swim to build a new website and to create paid search and social campaigns promoting shoulder season getaways and to drive traffic to their new site. Without metrics from their previous website, we aren’t able to benchmark against where they were before, but the data from the new website is still compelling and tells the story of effective short-term and long-term SEO at play.
The Data
While paid search and socials ads were in market (late Sept./early Oct., Nov., Jan., March), traffic to the website picked up notably, with average monthly page views nearly doubling:
- Not in market – average page views per month: 4,305
- While in market – average page views per month: 8,539
The Feedback

The Outcome
WALA and Swim continue to partner on digital ad campaigns which are actively drawing visitors to WALA’s new website.
By consistently running well-branded digital ads that drive users to its fully optimized website, WALA is creating a strong online presence that stays top of mind for its audience.
